“Iran Field” event to open in Tehran’s Azadi Tower
TEHRAN- The “Iran Field” event, centered around a visual re-examination of the days of the 1979 Revolution, will be inaugurated at the cultural and artistic complex of Azadi Tower on Sunday.
This event will showcase previously unseen images capturing the remarkable and heroic moments of the people's presence in Azadi Square during the pivotal days of the Islamic Revolution for the first time.
The exhibition will feature archival works from the Islamic Revolution's collection at Azadi Tower, alongside a café-gallery space hosting workshops on revolutionary fabric painting and calligraphy led by artists in these fields.
Additionally, a performance by a youth revolutionary choir and an artistic performance themed around the days of the revolution will be part of this event.
The exhibition section of "Iran Field" will remain open until February 17 at the galleries of the cultural and artistic complex of Azadi Tower.
The Iranian people successfully overthrew the oppressive Pahlavi regime, which had strong backing from the United States, during the winter of 1979.
The struggle against Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi reached its climax on February 11, 1979. By December 1978, millions of Iranians were regularly taking to the streets to protest the shah's policies.
Imam Khomeini returned to Iran from exile on February 1, 1979, greeted by millions just weeks after the shah's departure in mid-January.
The downfall of the Pahlavi regime became inevitable on February 11 when the military withdrew its support for the shah and aligned itself with the Revolution.
