TEHRAN -- The liquefied gas has been unprecedentedly well distributed throughout the country over the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (starting March 20), the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) said here Wednesday.
"The average liquified gas distribution has been 5,709 tons over the said period, up by 8.3 percent compared to the corresponding period last year," Mostafa Kashkouli, an NIOPDC director told IRNA.
He said that Iranian refineries produce 4,400 tons of liquified gas per day while other 1,800 tons are supplied by two petrochemical complex of Imam Khomeini and Khark.
Commenting on a plan launched last year to increase liquified gas storage capacity, Kashkouli said that four 1,500-ton gas reservoirs are to be constructed in the northeastern city of Mashhad and eight others are under construction.
"One hundred 40- to 60-ton reservoirs have been purchased and given to distributing companies." He said that the NIOPDC has also bought 100 tankers to facilitate the distribution of liquified gas throughout the country.
Asked to comment on a plan to facilitate distribution of liquified gas, Kashkouli said that the plan was similar to one for distribution of kerosene which bore fruits.
Referring to an eight percent increase in consumption of liquified gas over the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year, He complained about the public's low sensitivity toward optimal use of liquified gas.
