Iran, Mali Determined to Broaden Mutual Ties

TEHRAN Malian President Alpha Omar Konare said on Monday that the existing cooperation between Iran and Africa played a key role in regional and international developments.
The Malian president made the remark in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Bamako Gholam-Ali Fahimi Davatgar.
Mali has always acted as a good friend for the Islamic Republic of Iran and is very optimistic about its mutual cooperation with Iran, he said.
Voicing his country's readiness for cooperation with Iran at bilateral and regional levels, he said the exchange of visits between high-ranking officials of Iran and Mali would lead to further consolidation of bilateral relations.
The Iranian ambassador referred to religious and cultural commonalities between the two countries in the light of the fact that Mali is now a member of three different important regional organizations in Africa.
The two sides also studied and exchanged views on the latest developments in region and the world of Islam.
Describing the recent meeting between the Iranian president and his Malian counterpart on the sidelines of the summit in Doha of the Organization of the Islamic Conference as positive', he called the two sides to follow up the discussions held at the summit.
