TEHRAN -- Pakistan Ambassador Javid Husain said that his country's trade relations with the Islamic Republic are growing.
Talking to the TEHRAN TIMES Husain said, "The early 1980s saw a quantum jump in the volume of bilateral trade that touched the peak level of $538 million in 1983-84."
"Unfortunately, this high level of trade could not be sustained and it declined in 1984-86," he noted.
"Pakistan-Iran trade is government in terms of the long-term trade agreement signed by the two countries in 1982," he told the daily.
"During the last financial year, (1999-2000) the bilateral trade was $141 million," he added.
"Pakistan imports 30,000 barrels per day crude oil from Iran since July 1, 2000 and my country has already purchased 48,000 tons of gas oil from Iran in addition," Husain said.
