TEHRAN American Muslims, in a letter to the U.S. President George W. Bush, have asked for a review of the U.S. government's failed policies on Iran.

According to a report carried by the **** Washington Times *****, the American Muslim Council (AMC), in an open letter, had asked the newly elected president to respond to their requests.

The letter, signed by 25,000 members of AMC, and the think tank the Institute for Islamic and Democratic Studies said, "As American Muslims, we would like to cooperate with you and your government to make a 'united' United States and to form a bridge between the U.S. and the Islamic world."

The **** Washington Times **** said that the letter had been sent to the American president last week and that no response has yet been given to the letter.

The letter further contains guidelines on the Middle East peace process and the sanctions against Iraq and a review of policies on Iran.

According to the daily, the letter represents the views of a majority of the 10 million Muslims in the U.S.

In their letter, the Muslims encouraged Muslim groups, and the U.S. president in particular, to review the U.S. approach toward countries like Iran, Sudan, and Libya.

In their letter, they suggested that a new strategy should replace the current one in relations with the abovementioned countries. They added that the current strategies are harming innocent people.

They also asked the president to stop U.S. support of the Israeli regime and to return to the principals of land for peace in the Middle East peace process.

The Muslims called for justice in Bush's foreign policy, asking him to reduce sanctions against Iraq. They said that the U.S. sanctions have damaged the image of the U.S. in the Islamic world.
