LA CORUNA, Spain Deportivo Coruna will go into today's Champions League Group B game against Galatasaray with renewed confidence in their European and domestic chances after an historic victory over Barcelona on Saturday.

The reigning Spanish champions breathed new life into their hopes of a successful title defense as Victor struck from a last-minute free-kick to give them their first win at the Nou Camp.

Deportivo's European chances were dealt a hefty blow by last week's 1-0 defeat in Istanbul, when a single goal from Suat Kaya consigned the Spanish side to their second successive defeat and left them in third place behind Galatasaray and AC Milan.

But victory over Barcelona has left Javier Irureta's team convinced that anything is now possible as they prepare for home games against Galatasaray today and Paris St. Germain on March 7 that could get them right back into contention.

"If we beat Barcelona, I'm sure the other games will go well for us because we're on home ground," Irureta said before the club's first victory on Barca territory in 31 attempts.

"The wind will be in our favor."

For midfielder Victor, whose second goal of the night clinched Saturday's victory, they key now will be to put all thoughts of a successful league defense -- and next week's crunch clash with Real Madrid -- out of their minds.

"We have to concentrate on galatasaray now," said the former Real midfielder. "We've still got an awful lot to play for in Europe and that's the most important game for us."
