UN to Probe Reported Afghan Starvation Deaths

ISLAMABAD A UN team will go into the northeastern Afghan Province of Badakhshan next week to investigate opposition reports of a large number of deaths from starvation, a UN official said on Friday. A spokesman for the UN World Food Program (WFP), Khaled Mansour, told Reuters that the team would visit three opposition-held districts -- Yaftal, Sharebuzarg and Ragh.
