U.S. Warns Its Citizens to Avoid Frankfurt Subway During Nazi Demos

WASHINGTON The United States warned its citizens to avoid certain parts of the Frankfurt subway on Saturday because of anticipated violence around Neo-Nazi demonstrations and counterdemonstrations.
A "strongly anti-foreigner" Neo-Nazi group called "citizens for our country" planned to travel from Frankfurt's main train station via the subway, or U-Bahn, to Danziger Platz to assemble near the zoo, the state department said in a statement originally released by the U.S. consulate in Frankfurt.
They were to be joined by other right-wing groups, while left-wing groups vowed to hold counterdemonstrations.
"In the past, many of these demonstrations have resulted in violence," the statement said.
