TEHRAN Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ahmad Masjed-Jame'i Monday in a meeting with conductor of Vienna Symphonic Orchestra Subotka Wolfgang called "music" the common language of communication between countries, which may be used to link various cultures and civilizations.

He added that unlike other arts which convey their message via symbols and need interpretation, the concept of music is expressed directly.

He considered music the symbol of a nation's sentiment and experience. He said its close inter-connection with a nation's social and historical relations upgrades it to the level of spiritual reflection.

Referring to Iranian art and music, he said that it is the reflection of the type of life and thinking based on national and religious beliefs.

According to IRNA, he added that music is counted a common language in connection with human values, free from barriers, and a good means of communication.

Subotka Wolfgang thanked the Iranians' warm welcome and said music as a means of human communication affects other aspects of relations.

Closer ties between nations are made possible by peoples' passion for music, he added.

Some pieces composed by Beethoven, Strauss, and Iranian musician Alireza Mashayekhi will be performed by Vienna Symphonic Orchestra led by Subotka Wolfgang at Vahdat Hall in Tehran.
