TEHRAN The Council of Caucasian Muslim Clerics protested against the broadcasting of an immoral program on the Azeri television, according to media reports from Baku.

In its meeting on April 28, the council said that the midnight program ran counter to the Azeri people's Islamic, national and moral values.

The council's deputy chairman, Professor Raafiq Aliyev, criticized the television channel for airing the program, which he described as violating the ethics and belief of the Azeri nation.

Aliyev said that he had also been invited to the program, but that he refused to take part due to the program's unethical content and nature.

The professor added that the sponsor of the program has been actively trying to promote immorality in Azerbaijan.
