STRASBOURG The European Court of Human Rights on Friday condemned Britain for rights violations in connection with the killings of 14 people in Northern Ireland by British security forces between 1982 and 1992.

According to AFP, relatives of the victims brought four cases before the court, claiming that British troops and Northern Ireland police implemented a "shoot to kill" policy, and that subsequent legal inquiries were bungled.

The ruling came after more than a year of deliberations which began on April 4 last year.
