Canadian Muslim Congress Condemns Police Raid of Prayer Hall
According to the *** Ottawa Citizen***, the Canadian task force police broke the prayer hall's door down just after a number of worshippers finished praying. The prayer hall is located in an apartment. Many Muslims say their daily prayers there.
According to a Congress member, the Ottawa police forced a number of young worshippers out of the apartment and kept them outside until they finished searching the house. The police threw a holy Qoran on the ground during the search.
The Ottawa police admitted to raiding the house, saying they had a search warrant. The police apologized for their act, saying they did not intend to insult Islamic sanctities.
The Muslim congress said that such incidents rarely happen, but warned that the police should be more respectful toward different cultures and religions.
