94 Historical Monuments in Sistan-Baluchestan Registered With CHO

ZAHEDAN, Sistan-Baluchestan Province Head of Sistan-Baluchestan Province's branch of the Cultural Heritage Organization (CHO), Nour-Mohammad Bohlouli, said here Thursday that so far 94 archaeological and historical monuments have been registered with the provincial branch.

Bohlouli told IRNA that the number of monuments and/or relics identified for preservation in the province have reached 550, adding that of 40 monuments located in Zahedan only five have been registered as national monuments to date.

He mentioned Shahr-e Soukhteh, Kouh-e Khajeh and Dahaneh Gholaman in Zabol, the former building of the Provincial Justice Department, the Bazaar of Zahedan, Heidarabad Castle in Khash, Tappeh Roubahak in Saravan, Daaman and Doust-Mohammad castles in Iranshahr, the Portugese Castle and Gholam-Rasoul Emamzadeh in Chabahar as among the historical monuments in the province that have been registered.

He said: "The 10 monuments dating back to the Paleolithic era found in the Ladiz, Zahedan, Kouh-e Panj-Angoshti-e Khash and Fonouj areas in Nikshahr are proof of the rich and valuable historical cultural background of the province.
