MASHHAD, Khorasan Province Khorasan Province Governor General Mohsen Mehr-Alizadeh conferring here Monday with the visiting Secretary General to the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Abdulrahim Gavahi discussed the ways to expand commercial ties and develop the Sarakhs Special Economic Zone (SSEZ).

According to a press release issued by the Khorasan Province Governor General Office, during the meeting Mehr-Alizadeh referring to the facilities of the province, described the SSEZ as a stock market for cotton and oily grains, a platform for the Central Asia, and the center for exchanging vehicle spare parts.

Meanwhile, ECO's Secretary General underlined the need to pay attention to the ways of attracting international investment, and asking for the world bank's contribution to flourish the SSEZ.

Gavahi also declared ECO's readiness to sponsor the suggested projects to help Sarakhs attain its actual status.

The SSEZ is located on the historical Silk Road 200kms to the northeast of Mashhad adjacent to the common border of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the Turkmenistan Republic.
