Isfahan Vaults Into Naqsh-e Jahan Final

ISFAHAN The youths' soccer team of Isfahan defeated the Saudi Arabian squad to storm into the final of the 4th international competitions of Naqsh-e Jahan Cup.

During the match held on Tuesday, the Isfahanis had a spectacular performance on the pitch and managed to beat the Saudi youths 2-1.

Mojtaba Nazeri opened the scoring for Isfahan in the 27th minute by converting the penalty and his teammate Mostafa Salehi-Nejad added another goal in the 59th minute, IRNA reported. The sole goal of Saudi Arabian side came four minutes from the break by Ahmad al-Salem al-Harbi.

The referee Masoud Moradi and his two linesmen Seyed Reza Zarei and Alireza Sajjadi judged the derby. The Technical Committee selected Mostafa Salehi-Nejad as Player of the Match. Earlier, the junior national footballers of Iran leveled the Omani youths.

Playing on the pitch of Foulad-Shahr Stadium, Isfahan, the two teams tied 2-2.

Sivash Akbarpour scored both goals of Iran in the 9th and 56th minutes while Muhammad Ali Moslem converted the penalty for Oman in 17th minute and his teammate Faisal Khamis Abid scored the equalizer one minute from the time.

Esmaeil Safiri was the referee of the match and Reza Khodadad and Mohammad Nazifi were the two linesmen. Muhammad Ali Moslem was introduced as Player of the Match. The 2-2 tie denied the Iranian juniors to clash for the third title.
