TEHRAN One of the members of the city council of Sari, Mazandaran Province, Mostafa Shirzad said on Sunday that the Sari Mayor, Vahid Zare', has been ousted from his position by the council.

He also said that the council had observed some irregularities with regard to the duties of Zare' and according to law called him into question, adding that there was 17 points about which the city council expected to be provided with explanations, but as he refused to stand accountable against the charges in the city council, the council asked for his impeachment.

Shirzad called Zare's failure in implementing the directives of Sari City Council as the most significant points on which the mayor was asked to give explanations, and rejected any accusation of embezzlement on Zare's side.

He added that Zare' has had no objection to the impeachment set forth by the city council and therefore, Sari Governor's office cannot interfere in the decision made by the city council.

Shirzad also added that the city council has written a letter to the members of the city council to field competent nominees for the post of mayor so that another mayor would be chosen from among the candidates.
