TEHRAN -- In a meeting with the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia- Pacific Affair Mohsen Aminzadeh, the Indian Minister of External Affairs, Jaswant Singh on Monday expressed satisfaction with the growing trend of mutual ties between Iran and India, and underlined the need for promoting bilateral relations.

He also referred to the export of Iran's gas to India and the agreements already inked between the two countries to launch feasibility studies on the joint gas projects, Singh called for speedy implementation of the accords.

Further in the meeting, Aminzadeh said that as to the strengthening of relations between Iran and India in different fields of politics, economy and culture, particularly following the recent visit of the Indian Premier Atal Bihari Vajpaee to Iran, the agreements reached between the two countries have paved the way for further promotion of bilateral cooperation.

He also welcomed multilateral cooperation, with participation of the two countries, at regional and international levels.

During the meeting, the two officials condemned terrorist activities and expressed their concern about the current situation of the oppressed Afghan nation. They also stressed that the fate of the Afghan nation must be determined by the Afghan people.

Both Iran and India voiced their readiness to dispatch humanitarian supplies to the homeless Afghan people within the framework of rules and regulations of the United Nations.

Mohsen Aminzadeh Arrived in New Delhi early Monday on a two-day visit to discuss with Indian officials the issues of mutual interests. During his stay, he will hold talks with several Indian officials.
