MANCHESTER, England Ryan Giggs is confident Manchester United can start thinking about the next phase of the Champions League if they beat Deportivo Coruna today.

Alex Ferguson's side will remain top of Group G with nine points from four matches if they defeat the Spanish club at Old Trafford.

"It's a big game on Wednesday and if we perform we are more or less through to the next stage," Giggs told MUTV. "We know if we win we are in a good position. It's in our own hands, and that's how we like it, plus we have another home game after this."

The winger, however, does not expect an easy time against the Spanish league leaders, who beat United 2-1 earlier in the group thanks to very late goals from Walter Pandiani and Nourredine Naybet.

"They are a quality team and a dangerous team," Giggs said. "I don't think it will faze them coming to Old Trafford. They have got experience in Europe and have experienced players. We need to be on our game."

The Welsh international admitted the first stage of the competition had proved tougher than expected for the Premier League champions.

"It's an open group," he said. "Everybody thought Lille would a pushover, but they are leading the French league and their confidence is high. They've picked up some good results."

According to Reuters, Deportivo have five points from their first three Champions League matches, one ahead of third-placed Lille, who travel to Athens to play Olympiakos Piraeus today.
