LONDON Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy won the Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Player of the Year award on Sunday.

David Beckham, Roy Keane and Van Nistelrooy of Manchester United, Arsenal's Thierry Henry and Robert Pires and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink of Chelsea were all nominated for the award which is voted for by their fellow professionals, reported Reuters.

The award was presented at a PFA gala evening.
