TEHRAN -- Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Secretary General Abdolrahim Gavahi, on his visit to Vienna, called on UNDCP Executive Director Antonio Maria Costa at UNDCP Headquarters, a press release issued by the Economic Cooperation Organization said here on Sunday.

In the meeting, a document pertaining to the second phase of the ECO-UNDCP joint project to control drug trafficking in the ECO region was signed and a proposal to hold a ministerial meeting on drug control among ECO member states, forwarded by Gavahi, was well received, IRNA reported.

Negotiations were also made on holding a joint seminar on HIV/AIDS in the ECO region.

"In the light of the new situation in Afghanistan, the ECO secretary general sought the financial assistance of the UNDCP to deal with the relevant issues of interest to both organizations," the press release concluded.
