Russia Rejects That Cooperation With Iran Is 'Unconventional'
Dimitriov here on Tuesday rejected charges by certain governments that Tehran and Moscow have 'unconventional' cooperation.
Dimitriov told IRNA on the sidelines of the second round of Tehran-Moscow joint defense cooperation commission session that Russia's stance vis-a-vis construction and operation of Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant is crystal clear and based on international laws and regulations.
He said, "Russia will continue cooperation with Iran to construct and modernize Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant." He dismissed reports by certain sections of the media that Russia is cooperating with the U.S. to develop anti-missile defense structure.
He said Russia would have no cooperation with the United States of America for development of the anti-missile defense structure and what is reflected by the news media to this effect is sheer lie.
Earlier, Vladimir Dvorkin, head of the Center on Strategic Nuclear Forces' Problems at the Academy of Military Sciences, had told Russian Interfax news agency that cooperation between the U.S. and Russia to develop the anti-missile defense structure would meet both countries' interests.
Asked whether certain countries fear expansion of military and industrial cooperation between Iran and Russian, Dimitriov said defense, security and industrial cooperation between Tehran and Moscow would not be a threat to a third country and all fall within framework of the internationally accepted protocols.
He termed as 'positive and promising' the prospect of cooperation between Russia and Iran in all defense, security and industry fields.
He hoped for expansion of mutual cooperation in the fields.
