Production of Children's Plays in Decline

TEHRAN - Theater director Kioumars Haqiqi believes that the production of children's plays is currently in decline.

Haqiqi said that children's plays have no bright future and that most of the plays staged these days are not artistic and do not have good content.

Since much capital is required to produce children's plays and they might not attract a very large audience, directors refuse to invest in them, he added.

It is not easy to communicate with children, and although walking in their land of desires seems to be very sweet, it is a difficult job, he continued.

He believes that the theater hall of the Center for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (CIDCYA) is not a good place for staging children's plays, adding that the center can be more efficient if it makes use of its own facilities.

The play ****Mobarak & Master Mohammad's Safe**** directed by Haqiqi is now onstage at the CIDCYA theater hall.

He has also directed the plays ****If I See the Cat**** and ****My Strange Paintings****.
