TEHRAN -- Bangladeshi Ambassador to Iran Abdullah al-Hassan met here on Tuesday with Parliament Speaker Mahdi Karrubi and discussed issues of mutual interest. During the meeting Karrubi expressed satisfaction over growing trend of bilateral ties, saying that "There are still many capacities to boost cooperation and progress which should be attended to."

Karroubi expressed iran's readiness to upgrade and consolidate tehran-dhaka ties, particularly at the international arenas.

"the parliaments of the two sides play an important role in this regard," he said. pointing to the middle east developments and the rising atrocities of the zionist regime against the oppressed people of palestine, karroubi said "in a world where everybody talks about human rights, democracy and respect for humans today, we are unfortunately witnessing the grave historical and human tragedies in the occupied land."

he described us support for the israeli regime as among major reasons behind the complication of the palestinian crisis and inhuman acts of the zionist regime.

the iranian majlis speaker also offered condolences to bereaved families of the victims of recent floods in bangladesh.

referring to good relations between the two countries, al-hassan, for his part, hoped that tehran and dhaka would further expand bilateral ties in all arenas.

"we are unfortunately witnessing international silence towards the ongoing human tragedies in the region," he said.

al-hassan handed over a message from bangladeshi parliament speaker to karroubi and renewed the former's invitation for karroubi to visit his country soon.
