TEHRAN -- A Tehran court has ordered the closure of the daily ***Ayene-ye Jonoub***, which hit the newsstands a week ago, on charge of publishing articles "contrary to the law".
The daily, rising from a local weekly in southern Iran to a nationwide newspaper, has been suspended on the ground that its publisher Mohammad Dadfar had been sentenced to jail on charge of propagating against the Islamic Revolution, reported AFP.
Meanwhile in another development the court suspends daily ***Rouz-e No*** before its publication which was due to hit Iranian newsstands shortly.
Judge Saeid Mortazavi has asked Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ahmad Masjed-Jamei to prevent ***Rouz-e No (New Day)*** from publication, saying it was intended to replace the recently-banned daily ***Norouz***.
