PORTLAND, Oregon -- Roy Jones Jr. easily retained his undisputed light-heavyweight title on Saturday, outclassing Britain's Clinton Woods, whose corner stopped the fight during the sixth round.

"Skillfully, he is not on my level," said Jones, who improved his record to 47-1, with 38 knockouts in defending his unified titles for the seventh time. "He was very spirited and had a big heart."

With few worthy contenders left in the light-heavyweight division, Jones appears to be forced into a move up to heavyweight, and is being linked with a possible match against WBA champion John Ruiz, Reuters reported.

"People want to see how I fair," Jones said.

"I feel pretty good tonight and if I get in shape, I could do that for the title. I just want to see how the public is going to react, I want it to be a big event. "If the public wants it, that is what I will do."

Jones also raised the possibility of meeting highly regarded light-heavyweight contender Antonio Tarver, who represented the United States at the 1996 Olympics.
