Iranian Cinema Day
Following are the viewpoints of some Iranian actors and directors on Iranian cinema. "Since the Islamic Revolution has a cultural nature, it obviously has a direct impact on the artistic and cultural behavior of the society, especially on cinema," said film director Javad Shamaqdari He added, "In the past few years, some people who could have made the best use of the situation to promote Iranian cinema, unfortunately, have returned to the cinema of pre-revolution times and are trying to make profits through cinema." Praising post-revolution cinema compared to pre-revolution cinema, female film director Pouran Derakhshandeh said, "There have been great efforts in the field of cinema and it is the duty of cinematic figures to dedicate this art to Iranian society."
"Iranian cinema is not advanced in technique, but has many thoughts and ideas and much to say," said actor Dariush Arjomand.
He added that Iranian cinema should return to its own identity.
Actor Seyed Javad Hashemi believes that all producers, writers and directors are well aware of cinema's message, but that recent cinematic works are far from the main message of cinema. Director Mahdi Fakhimzadeh stated, "Our Islamic society prepares the way to carry out Islamic activities but this work must continue and technicians in this field must be encouraged."
Film critic Mohammad Nourzad believes that every film that encourages the audience to be good can be considered religious cinema and criticized immoral films.
