TEHRAN -- France is the world's most popular tourist destination, hosting over 60 million foreign tourists every year.

French citizens are very interested in traveling and tourism. Among Europeans, only the Germans travel more than the French.

Iran, one of the cradles of civilization, shines as one of the ancient countries in the world and has attracted the attention of French tourists.

Despite all the valuable cultural and tourism treasures of the country, Iran still is not as popular among foreign tourists as it should be.

Sam Contantin, a French university student who has visited Iran twice finds Iranian people very kind and friendly.

He said that Iran's civilization, culture, and historical monuments can attract tourists from all over the world.

The kindness of Iranian people and the history of the country, with its enormous historical treasures, are his favorite things about Iran, he added.

Virgin Branio, an employee of a business institute in Paris who also recently visited Iran mentioned that Iran is an ancient country with a great civilization which has not been properly introduced to the world.

She said that she was surprised to discover the great number of historical sites in Iran's cities.

She also believes that the officials in charge of the tourism industry should pay more attention to the sensitivities of tourists.

The beautiful historical monuments of Isfahan, Shiraz, Persepolis, Tabriz, and Hamedan are quite valuable and unique, and such cultural and historical sites are rarely seen in any country, she noted.
