Syrian Ambassador Bids Farewell to President Khatami

TEHRAN -- Outgoing Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Tarky Muhammad Saqer here Sunday called on President Mohammad Khatami to bid farewell with him.
During a meeting, President Khatami pointed to strong and deep-rooted ties between Tehran and Damascus, terming mutual relations as a sign of strategic bonds between the two countries.
Referring to the historical and cultural commonalties between the two sides, Khatami called for solidarity between Iran and Syria in line with strengthening peace and administering justice in the region.
Saqer, for his part, said bilateral ties were at the highest level and stressed further expansion of relations between the two countries.
