Multilateral Projects Must Be Conducted to Confront Drug Addiction
He called for the assessment of the outcomes of the related offices, and reiterated on the coordination of all of the governmental and civic organizations, in the battle against drugs.
He added that the majority of the addicts are in the age scope of 23 to 28, noting that the educational and academic organizations play a more preventive role in the struggle against illicit drug addiction.
Numerous conducted studies prove that the average age of drug addiction has dropped significantly in the country and the threat of alcoholism and drug addiction should be taken seriously in Iran.
Castigating the vagueness of the status of addicts in Iran, he pointed that addiction is an illness and illnesses have their own treatments, too.
He referred to the negative impacts of globalization trend, such as the inclination of youngsters to consumption of illicit drugs and alcohol and pointed that the information technology has greatly influenced the teenagers.
He pointed to the active role of Iran in the battle against smuggle and transit of illicit drugs in the past 23 years and pointed that despite well-expanded operations, the entry of drugs to the country will escalate due to the indifference of the international community and lack of support from other countries.
Obviously, straightforward and appropriate education, and reinforcement of the sense of recognition in teenagers and youngsters can neutralize the operations of the traders of illicit drugs.
Elsewhere in his speech, he referred to the long border of Iran with Afghanistan, as the biggest producer of illicit drugs in the world and stipulated that due to the special geographical status of Kerman Province and existence of appropriate docks for drug smugglers, huge amount of drugs enters this province.
Alluding to an increase in the drug discoveries of the Law Enforcement Forces in Kerman in the first six months of this year, he added that these discoveries consist a small part of the drugs that are transited and the police can discover nearly 10% of the drugs, in the best possible situation.
According to the statistical figures of the health centers, seven to ten percent of Kermani citizens consume drugs.
