TEHRAN -- Located in Firouzabad, Sassanid Palace or fire temple (224-651 C.E.), is among historical and architectural attractions of Fars Province.

Constructed by stone and plaster, the fire temple was one of the country palaces of Ardashir Babakan. Decorations used in the temple include impressive color plasterwork. Interior columns are similar to the ones outside the palace.

The fire temple has three entrance doors. The main entrance door is from the south. In the east and the west of the courtyard of the main entrance, there are two rooms with cradle-like ceilings.

Decorations used inside the halls are comparable to Tachar Palace in Persepolis. The palace has two floors. After the halls, there is a vast hall that reminds great halls of the Ashkanid (250 B.C. to 226 C.E.). Surrounded by a fence, there is a small stream, almost round, in front of the main hall.

The ancient name of Firouzabad is "Shahr-e Gour, " located at 3km of the current building. It was the governmental center of the Sassanid era.
