TEHRAN -- Over 200 students of Birjand universities staged a rally in support of the recent remarks by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, addressed to the Second National Conference of the Student Movement.

The commander of the Student Basij of Birjand Faculty of Medicine, Mohammad Zangouei, said justice without sincerity is meaningless, stressing that as long as the remarks of state officials are not consistent with their behavior, justice will never prevail in the country.

He recalled the recent threats by certain political camps to leave the establishment, as well as the mottoes of "Long Live My Opponent" and "The Rule of Law", and said such ideals will never come true unless Iran's lawmakers themselves stop violating the Constitution.

Zangouei recalled the Leader's concern about tackling social problems such as poverty, corruption, and discrimination, saying that officials need to devise effective ways to solve these problems.

He further called on the Judiciary to "seriously" impose Sharia (Islamic law) punishments against those found guilty in economic corruption cases and said that state officials, if found guilty of any such charges, should receive a harsher punishment than a normal citizen.
