TEHRAN -- To achieve continuous development in the field of natural resources, cattle and poultry, fishery and aquatics, bee keeping and food health, Japan is to cooperate with Iran on Qarasoo River Research Project, as announced here on Saturday.

In the first round of talks between the Japanese Head of Qarasoo River Water Research Project, G.K.

Matsomoto, and Director General of International and Regional Departments of Agricultural Jihad Ministry, Majid Dehqanshoar, the trend of such cooperation was examined.

According to Dehqanshoar, the area under survey measures 14,000 hectares.

He said the Japanese specialists and researchers are to report the result of their survey to the Iranian officials in charge, especially their exploitation trend.

Dehqanshoar expressed satisfaction with the experimental execution of Qarasoo River Research Project, which will not only lead to continuous development in the agricultural sector, but will also boost the agricultural products and will guarantee food health.

Matsomoto said that the one-year project is to be implemented in two phases, IRNA said.

"The first phase consists of the public understanding and the second phase relates to the survey of the area for its various agricultural potentials such as natural resources, cattle and poultry, environment, fishery and aquatics," noted Matsomoto.

He added that the project is to be accomplished jointly by the experts and officials from the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad and the public institutions and cooperatives.

Matsomoto hoped that the Japanese team will achieve to apply its survey trend to Qarasoo River in joint cooperation with the public and the Iranian officials.
