KUALA LUMPUR (IRNA) -- A senior cleric said Thursday that Hezbollah's one-month-long defense in southern Lebanon revealed the true identity of enemies of Islam to the world community.

Speaking in a meeting at the Iranian Embassy here late on Thursday, Secretary-General of the World Assembly for Proximity among Islamic Schools of Thought Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri said the U.S.-premeditated Israeli war against Lebanon has been among the interests of the Israel.

Lashing out at the silence of international organizations towards massacre of civilians in Lebanon, Taskhiri stressed that recent developments in the country showed the incompetence of international organizations such as the United Nations Security Council.

"While one month has passed since the assault of the Israeli armed-to-teeth army to Lebanon, the UN Security Council has failed to issue a resolution to end the war due to pressures from the United States and Zionist lobbyist," he said, referring to the latest UN Security Council resolution against Iran's peaceful nuclear program.

Referring to the Islamic resistance of Hezbollah, Taskhiri said Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah and his forces proved that Muslims' power is stronger than Israeli cutting-edge weapons.

"Recent developments also indicate that the Islamic Ummah can stand against the world arrogant powers only in light of solidarity and unity. Ayatollah Taskhiri is currently in Malaysia to participate in a meeting dubbed "Islamic Jurisprudence and its Challenges in the 21st Century."
