TEHRAN – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called on the three government branches to team up in implementing the economic reform plan.

“On important issues such as the economic reform plan and the implementation of the general policies of Article 44 of the Constitution, cooperation between the three branches is essential,” said Ayatollah Khamenei on Tuesday evening as he hosted an ifter (breaking fast) for current and former officials.
The Ahmadinejad administration has devised an economic reform plan which calls for paying subsides for various products directly to people.
The plan has been prepared to reduce the excessive waste of the country’s resources especially energy, and to ensure that low-income families pay fewer taxes.
Ayatollah Khamenei warned officials against “any action or decision which would have negative consequences on people’s lives” and advised them to maintain perseverance in the face of political ballyhoo against the Islamic system.
The Leader said, “Following the principles of Islam and the Islamic Revolution will contribute to the country’s development.”
Ayatollah Khamanei also expressed satisfaction over the “unprecedented” scientific achievements in the country.
“The Iranian nation has made some unprecedented achievements in science and technology and Iran is among few courtiers which is enjoying these technologies.”
“The nuclear technology is just one of the achievements of Iranians. Our dear country has also made good progress in construction and improvement of people’s lives.”
The Leader warned executive officials of going to the extremes in making key decisions. Important decisions should not be withheld for fear of failure but they should also not be implemented hurriedly, he noted.
