South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's three-day visit to the United Arab Emirates is to bolster Korea's strategic partnership with one of the most-developed economies in West Asia.

He will begin his trip which was at the invitation of the country's leader Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan by paying a visit to the Korean special forces unit and giving encouragement to some 130 soldiers dispatched there on a two-year mission to help train the UAE's special forces.
Lee is expected to hold a summit with his UAE counterpart to discuss ways to boost cooperation in a wide range of sectors including the economy, development of energy, construction of nuclear power plants and improvement of the environment.
The two leaders will also ink memorandums of understanding on promoting collaboration in health and medicine as well as the Global Green Growth Institute.
On the last day of his stay on Monday the Korean leader will also take part in a groundbreaking ceremony for a nuclear plant being built by a Korean-led consortium in Braka, some 300 kilometers west of the UAE capital Abu Dhabi.
Lee's visit to the middle eastern country follows one made in December 2009 where he promoted Korea's consortium win a 40-billion-U.S.-dollar contract to build nuclear power plants.
