TEHRAN - Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said on Sunday that an agreement is “at hand” if some Western countries in the 5+1 group show commitment to the Lausanne nuclear framework and do not make excessive demands.

“Any way the other side has an ideal agreement in mind and we also have an ideal agreement in mind and definitely none of us can reach that ideal agreement,” he stated.

He went on to say that Iran and the 5+1 group (the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) should make agreement “somewhere in the middle of the way”.

Salehi, a nuclear physicist, added, “We have said many times that Iran’s nuclear dossier is technical and we are ready to use the international regulations such as the International Atomic Energy Agency and ease their concerns.”

Salehi noted that Iran has some redlines and will observe them.
