Closing PMD is a positive development: Shireen Hunter

TEHRAN - A professor of political science at Georgetown University has said a resolution by the IAEA board of governors which closed the PMD file is a positive development
“All in all the resolution closing the PMD aspect of Iran’s nuclear file is a positive development and in Iran’s favor,” Shireen Tahmaasb Hunter told the Tehran Times.“However,” Hunter argued, “such decisions are not merely based on technical considerations; rather they are highly influenced by political dynamics of the time.”
She said that there is always a chance that if “political dynamics changes excuses could be found to reopen the file”. However, she added, unless a “very serious crisis” occurs in Iran’s relations with the West “such eventuality is quite unlikely”.
If Iran’s relations with the West develop in a “positive direction the dossier will remain closed” but if new tensions arise in their relations the “possibility of reopening the file cannot be totally ruled out”
