On April 1, which was the last day of the Noruz holidays called the Day of Nature, I went for a walk in Chamdivan village in the western province of Lorestan, when I came across a domestic cat lying beside the cultivated field of broad beans.

The cat was not moving nor mewing but gazing at me in despair. I thought it was stuck under some stones at first but actually there was something wrong with the legs.

Not knowing what to do, I sat there for a while thinking. This was the first time that a cat was watching me desperately asking for help.

Hurrying back home, I brought it some food and fresh water but poor cat did not have energy to try it. Everywhere was off and no one would take trouble for a domestic cat on such a day.

Suddenly I remembered the department of environment and gave a call to one of the rangers who was luckily patrolling 25 kilometers away with his three other colleagues.

They hesitated at first, saying that they were responsible for wild animals but then decided to come and check.

Watching the poor animal, they also could not leave it there.

Talking to their boss, they decided to take it to the department of environment for treatment but also warned that it could not survive due to serious spinal cord injury probably as a result of car accident.

Sadly the poor cat died on the same night in the department of environment, but I am happy that the rangers came for help in 15 minutes and were true animal lovers.
