TEHRAN – Two books by Iran’s a founding father of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani who was also served as the fourth president of Iran after the revolution from 1989 to 1997, were unveiled during a special ceremony on Sunday.

Ayatollah Hashemi’s family and a large number of cultural figures and officials attended the ceremony held at the National Library and Archives of Iran.

Ayatollah Hashemi’s elder son, Mohsen, delivered a speech on the introduction of “Patience and Victory” and “The Days and Times of Hardship”.

“‘Patience and Victory’ is Ayatollah Hashemi’s diary in 1994, during which ‘the resistance economy’ was properly implemented,” he said.

“In that year, we were confronting a serious decline in oil prices while we had to pursue the construction projects started a few years before that time,” he added. “However, he showed that we could overcome the problems through prudence.”

“The Days and Times of Hardship” chronicles major events that occurred during eight years of the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s, he said.

Ayatollah Hashemi who died in January was an old hand at writing. His memoirs, “Hashemi’s Diary”, have previously been published in 14 volumes.
