TEHRAN Wholesale price index was up 0.6 percent in Iranian month of Aban (October 22-November 20) compared to the preceding month of Mehr, standing at 1,028 points, reported the Central Bank of Iran's (CBI) Economic Statistics Department here Sunday.

It further said that the average wholesale price index in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (started March 20) showed a rise of 15.9 percent compared to the figure for the same period last year.

The CBI said that in the month of Aban, prices of dairy products, locally produced oats, citrus fruits, other pitted fruits, vegetables, imported sugar, sugar beet, imported tea, tobacco, oil seeds, imported timber, cumin, imported medicine, leather, PVC pipes and joints, paper, imported fiber, variety of fabrics, woolen hand-woven carpets for exports, industrial parts and molded parts contributed a major share in raising the wholesale price index of goods.

Moreover, prices of chicken, eggs, beans, variety of domestically produced rice, apples, rooted vegetables, dried fruits, wool and cotton, imported covers of tires and imported aluminum sheets decreased in the period.

The price of index of food products showed a rise of 8.3 percent while that of products dependent on raw materials rose by 12.5 percent in Aban compared to the figure in the corresponding period the year before.

The price indices of machinery and vehicles rose by 9.5 percent, of the agriculture and veterinary products by 7.4 percent and of construction materials by 10.4 percent in Aban compared to the figure for the month of Aban last year.
