TEHRAN -- The head of a German parliamentary delegation visiting Tehran said that the propaganda against Iran in the Western media is sheer lies.

He made the remark in a meeting with members of the Majlis Economic Commission here on Sunday.

The German MP said that the Western propaganda against Iran is contrary to the existing realities in the country. "The exchange of visits between the two countries' parliamentary delegations further promotes mutual understanding between the two nations and helps them become familiar with their potential," he added.

He said that despite political pressures, the German government considers Iran a trustworthy partner for its economic activities. He called on the two countries' parliaments to support mutual investment.

The German MP also underlined the need to strengthen and encourage the Iranian and German private sectors in order to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.

The deputy chairman of the Majlis Economic Commission, Shahi Arablou, expressed hope that Tehran-Berlin economic ties would be further boosted through the implementation of agreements reached during meetings of the fourth joint economic commission.
