TEHRAN – Two Iranian documentary makers Saeid Aboutaleb and Soheil Karimi, who were making a documentary in Iraq, had been detained by U.S. forces since July 2.

The two filmmakers were working for IRIB, TV Channel 2, said the director of TV Channel.

Moshiri stated that IRIB Department of International Affairs is seriously trying to obtain information on the case.

“As soon as the U.S. forces confirmed the arrest, measures have been taken by the IRIB and Foreign Ministry, with no results yet,” added Moshiri.

”Meanwhile we have released their photos and pertinent documents to several world news agencies and TV channels to assist us in obtaining information on the case, if there are any,” added the director.

In a letter addressed to the British and Swiss embassies, Iranian artists and documentary makers have expressed their protest to the arrest.

“The two, have dedicated their life to art works, choosing Iraq as the location for a documentary, but in return anxiety is experienced by their families, friends and society, because of their detention” a part of the letter said.

Aboutaleb (35) works at the IRIB and had directed several programs including “AIDS”, “Life for You”, “Blue Life of Persian Gulf”, and “Wide Open Eyes”.

Karimi (31), has been working as a reporter and researcher with Aboutaleb in “Story of Fat’h”, and “Every Where Is Karbala”.
