TEHRAN, August 5 (Mehr News Agency) – A Majlis deputy said here Tuesday that the survival of the reform program depends on moderation, adding that the continuation of the reform process is the key to the survival of the Islamic Republic.

Ali Nazari, a Majlis deputy from Arak, said that a rejection of reforms would mean that the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran does not leave room for reform.

In a pre-debate speech, Nazari stated that the extremists are today trying to give people the impression that the reform process is a program of a certain political party and that it contradicts Islamic and revolutionary values, stressing that these are the main threats against the reform process.

“Moderation and avoiding extremism guarantees the continuation of the reform program, and this can be seen in the behavior of officials in the three branches of government,” he said. “Today, people and politicians can not accept the accusations raised about the reformists, which claim that they are trying to side with the rightists and are trying to form a coalition against the reformist movement.”

Nazari also said that the resignation of MPs would be of no benefit to the people, stressing that parliamentarians should instead struggle to resolve the people's economic woes. SHL/AA/HG End MNA
