TEHRAN -- Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) announced here Thursday that the two Iranian documentary film makers arrested in Iraq a month ago are in good health conditions.

The IRCS said that getting information on the health condition of Saeed Aboutaleb and Soheil Karimi became possible thanks to the efforts made by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Red Crescent Society.

The society further assured that it would continue its efforts to establish contact and arrange a meeting between the film makers and their families, IRNA reported.

Soheil Karimi and Saeed Aboutaleb, employees of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), were arrested by U.S. forces on July 1 while filming in southern Iraq.

They were working on a documentary about life in Iraq.

Families of the Iranian television reporters in a letter submitted to the Swiss embassy in Tehran have called for their speedy release.

The letter said that human worries expose people from all nationalities to equal amount of suffering, irrespective of their color, race and language.

"It's not clear how the United States, the so-called advocate of human rights, is justifying the arrest of the television reporters," Abutaleb's wife Faranak Dalpy had earlier said.

"We should ask the American troops whether making a documentary film is a crime," Aboutaleb mother Ashraf Aqajani said.

Mohtaram Jebeli, mother of Karimi, said that according to the ICRC, her son was being held by U.S. forces at the Baghdad airport.
