TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency)-- The secretary general of the Democratic Party (Mardomsalari), Mostafa Kavakebian, said that character assassination of candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections is unethical.

Kavakebian told the Mehr News Agency that political groups which observe the moral rules of politics are the real winners of political competitions.

Referring to a list of likely conservative candidates which was recently published by certain internet sites and newspapers, he said that sometimes such lists are based on media speculation, but in other cases the lists may be an attempt to influence public opinion.

Kavakebian said that a similar list of possible candidates of the Islamic Iran Participation (Mosharekat) Party (IIPP) has been published in one of the conservative newspapers, but the IIPP has rejected the authenticity of the list.
