Golabar Dam to receive water soon
He added that Golabar Dam – located 55 kilometers southwest of Zanjan - is an earthfill dam with clay core, as high as 82 meters from the foundation, with reservoir volume about 116 million cubic meters and a crest of about 12 meters wide.
Musavi also said that the construction of Golabar Dam is one of the few projects aimed to provide water in the country, adding that the construction process of drainage and irrigation networks is being carried out simultaneously.
He further noted that the construction of Golabar Dam was 70% complete, but added that the construction of drainage and irrigation networks has had a 25% progress.
The main objective behind constructing the Golabar Dam, according to the official, was to develop the agricultural and industrial sectors in the region, create job opportunities, and increase the value added of the agricultural products.
Following the waterfilling of Golabar Dam some 46 million cubic meters of the required water for 8,000 hectares of lands in Zarrinabad and Ijeroud will be provided annually.
The dam has so far cost some Rls.320 billion.
He concluded that, however, the current year’s allocated budget is about Rls.108 billion, while some Rls.320 billion is required for completing the construction of drainage and irrigation networks.
