IKCO to manufacture Samand in Syria

TEHRAN (IRNA) – Deputy managing director of Iran Khodro Industrial Group said here Monday that with completion of the automobile manufacturing assembly line over 5,000 'Samand' models would be manufactured in Syria annually.

Aref Noruzi said that the first phase of the plant would be ready in several months.

"Over 30,000 automobiles will be built and offered to the Syrian market and other regional countries," he added.

He said that Iran Khodro strives to present a successful portrayal of Iran's industrial capabilities abroad by building the plant to the highest quality.

The Syrian prime minister has ordered several of the state-affiliated organs to purchase their vehicle needs from the Iranian automobile manufacturing plant.
