ATHENS (IRNA) -- Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Yiannis Valinakis said here on Friday that Athens has called on Iran to give a positive response to the EU package of incentives.

Valinakis made the remarks while talking to reporters following a meeting he held with Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki.

He said Iran's response will help resume negotiations to resolve Iran's nuclear case.

The Greek official added that Athens, as a member of the European Union (EU) and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, was requesting Tehran to give a transparent response to the package of incentives offered by the world's six powers (Group 5+1).

Iran, on June 6, was offered a package of incentives by the UN Security Council's five permanent members -- Russia China, U.S., UK and France -- plus Germany (5+1 Group) through EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana in exchange for suspension of uranium enrichment and resumption of talks to settle the dispute over its nuclear program.
