Ramsar named Iran's first ecotourism destination

NOSHAHR, Mazandaran Prov. (IRNA) – The westernmost city of Ramsar in the northern Mazandaran province has been named as Iran's first ecotouristic city.

MP from Tonkabon and Ramsar Jafar Raheb told IRNA on Monday that according to deputy head of Iran's Cultural Heritage and Tourism Organization (CHTO), at the cabinet meeting in Mazandaran during President Ahmadinejad's visit to the province, the ministers approved the proposal to name Ramsar as the country's first ecotourism destination.

With a population of 78,000 people, the city of Ramsar bordering the Caspian Sea is world-famous for its special unique natural features, including forests, mountains and sea.
