Iranian expert produces cold sheets capable of spot welding
Due to the high tenacity and resistance of the alloys used in the production of the cold sheets they would crack when welded therefore, by employing the novel technology that makes use of thermal welding furnaces, spot welding of the sheets becomes possible, Majid Burqani, the Iranian innovator said.
The project taking about one and a half years of intensive work was completed in two stages, he explained adding that major companies such as the National Iranian Oil Co. as well as a leading Italian company have approved the product.
The cold sheets are 15 millimeters in diameter however, after being welded by martensite/ferrite steel their width increases to 20 millimeters, he commented.
World market prices for each kilogram of the cold sheet is between $30 and $35 but, the innovation has reduced the prices to between $15 and $17.5 for domestic uses, he further explained.
